Murfield Apache - New Tasmanian Import Sire
In a recent exchange of genetics between Bundaleer (WA) and the joint effort between Wiltshire and Murfield Murray Grey Studs in Tasmania two proven sire have been exchanged. Bundaleer took delivery of Murfield Apache whilst Bundaleer True Blue has only recently taken his first steps on Tasmanian soil. The timing of the transaction has been terrific for all parties as they have extensively used one of the sires in their own respective herds.
“A bull of great value to the breed” Chris Knox, DSK Angus Stud, NSW
“A huge meat machine” Keith McLauchlan, Valma Hereford Stud, TAS
“Dynamic, athletic and with great sire appeal” Lachlan James, Wallawong Murray Grey Stud, NSW
Both bulls pack an enormous amount of physical characteristics, genetics and have proven track records. From Bundaleer’s perspective Apache (Pictured left and beloew) is one of the most complete outsourced bulls we have had the opportunity to own. His structure and fertility are excellent; he has superb width and muscling and as Keith McLauchlan (Valma Herefords, TAS) described him – a huge meat machine. His sons have sold in excess of $10,000 with a son this year topping the Tasmanian Murray Grey Sale Week.
We will use Apache over a selection of females with the intention of offering our commercial clients a selection of sons with a complete outcross of genetics for WA. We can see opportunity in our herd to retain a line of twenty or so daughters by him and tap into his low-moderate birth weight, very high milk and overall eye appeal.
Apache calves will go head-to-head with progeny by Monterey Freight Train B275 so it will be interesting to see how the Tasmanian import compares to the attributes of Freight Train. If his two sons are any testament for what is in stall, we will be very pleased.

'He looks fantastic. Great length, bone & feet. Has tremendous jump muscle expression for a bull in his condition & great depth of muscling. Good topline and tracks well for a bull of his length. Extremely quiet also. You may have guessed that we are extremely happy.'
Rob Wilson's comments on Bundaleer True Blue several days after deliver to Tasmania.
Whilst never seeing True Blue in the flesh Rob Wilson has always been impressed with True Blue as a younger bull on his sheer performance and phenotype. He boasts the fastest growth rate and largest EMA for any bull bred at Bundaleer at 17 months of age – that being 848kg and an EMA of 140cm2. His maternal siblings have done exceptionally well, with semen sales to the USA, Canada and the UK. True Blue’s calves are fast growing with plenty of capacity and muscling. Rob Wilson had this to say. “True Blue has arrived safe & well – took 10 days & travelled via Dubbo. He looks a little down in nick otherwise he looks fantastic. Great length, bone & feet. Has tremendous jump muscle expression for a bull in his condition & great depth of muscling. Good topline and tracks well for a bull of his length. Extremely quiet also.
You may have guessed that we are extremely happy.”
