‘Z’ Bulls Break Auction Record
With three bulls breaking our previous record at auction top price, it was smiles all round for our Z bull selling season. With an end to an era selling at Kojonup our two new selling venues were going to test the water. The bulls this year were moderate framed (5-7) B muscled bulls with raw EMA scans around 120cm2, weighing mostly around 800-950kg at 20-22 months.
We divided our sale team into two types with beefier types at Brunswick and growthier bulls at Gingin. Monterey Murray Grey Stud purchased our top price bull at Brunswick for $7750 (Lower Left) who was by Willalooka Mainbreak V856 out of Bundaleer Lolita W5, a Monterey Starchief daughter. Alistair Murray from Tullibardine bought one of the best bulls of the drop for a very cheap $4250, he was again by Mainbreak out of Bundaleer Esmeralda W11, a Bundaleer Prophet P2 daughter.
The top price bull at the Gingin Murray Grey Sale was Bundaleer Zone Z27 (Top left) a Mainbreak son out of multi-traitleader, Bundaleer Joyce U8. He sold to Larussa family from Bindoon for $9000. This is our highest price bull at auction. At 21 1/2 months he weighed 952kg with a 125 cm2 EMA and a frame score seven. Our next highest price was for Bundaleer Young Star (Middle left) selling for $7250 to Tania and Rob Menzies to join over their 120 Greyman cattle at New Norcia. Since the sale of these bulls in 2006 we have had very favourable feedback, most commenting how well the bulls grew out, ease of handling and the consistency of the calves.
