Opportunity Strikes for Those Who Wait

Bundaleer Zone - Top Price $9000 - Gingin Murray Grey Bull Sale

The 2007 bull selling season has been one of mixed feeling with sales in the Great Southern generally stronger than those in the northern regions. This was mostly due to the shocking season around the Northern Wheat Belt. With most of the Grey sales in early to mid February many buyers opted for the earlier sales. However, it was bargain prices for those who waited until the later sales.

Gingin

Bundaleer Amore A4 (Left) we consider to be one of the best bulls we have offered at auction, he is well balanced with good all round figures, thick as a brick, large testicles and a frame 6+ and sold for $4500 to a repeat customer. He’s the type of bull we would love to sell 50 of each year. The day proved to be a buyers' market as this was the top price for the Elders Gingin Murray Grey Bull Sale. A disappointing result with plenty of good commercial bulls passed in. However, it provided an opportunity for those who inspected our bulls earlier in the season, made their choice and saved $2000-$3000 per bull compared to larger single vendor sales in February for similar phenotype bulls.

Brunswick

At the Brunswick Mulit-Breed Bull Sale we sold to a top of $5400 this was down on the previous year but we were happy with the enquiry from repeat clients and new. Elders agent Phil Petricevich bidded on behalf of his client taking the top price bull Bundaleer Apostle A31 for $5400, they purchased two bulls with similar breeding and EBVs. The Lawerance brothers of Esperance provide solid support again buying two bulls JOS A33 and JOS A1 (Left: Bundaleer Atlas A33 - $3000) to breed vealers and replacement females from Euro cross females. Bundaleer Alpha A1 had been used as a yearling over our heifers and produced an excellent line of early maturing calves. In 2009 our top price pen of commercial heifers were sired by A1 and sold for $950/head, we also sold four of his sons as Guaranteed-Heifer Bulls selling between $2500-$3000 each.
