Payday Grandsons Clean Up at Perth
With only one bull entered for the 2006 Perth Royal Show we were somewhat optimistic expecting a broad ribbon win with a large field of junior bulls. However it was Trueblue’s structure, muscle and growth that carried him across the line to win the Junior Champion Bull at the 2006 Perth Royal Show.
An impressive accolade for True Blue was the impressive line up of young bulls at Perth (with the tops selling several months later for $20,000) that where sired by some of the most popular bulls in the breed e.g. Monterey Gotcha, Monterey Stratosphere and Tullibardine Wilson.
Entries came from studs across the state including Southend, Monterey and Tullibardine. His performance has been second to none at the stud and he is the heaviest 14 month Murray Grey to be entered at Perth. At 748kg with 7mm of fat and an EMA of 129cm² it is little wonder he was noticed. With so much growth potential and still displaying attributes of a calf he was tipped by the senior bull for Grand Champion Bull.
The judge considered True Blue (left) as having ‘too much growth for the breed’. Senior and Grand Champion Bull was awarded to Monterey Impeccable: out of Bundaleer Rejoyce—another Bundaleer Payday daughter. Impeccable (Lower left) went on to win Supreme Interbreed Senior Bull.
True Blue’s maternal brother Bundaleer X Road X37 (Crossroad) was exhibited in 2005 and won the Senior Champion, Grand Champion and Supreme Exhibit. In 2005 the breed celebrated its’ Centennial Anniversary and was held in conjunction with the World Congress—hosted in Western Australia. Crossroad was later sold for a combined sale figure of $67,000 with semen selling internationally.
Payday remains the most influential sire we have used at Bundaleer.
